Omega in an Alpha World

alpha-omega-iiIn the Greek alphabet
, Alpha is the first letter and Omega the last – similar to our English alphabet’s A and Z.

As believers in Christ, there is no proclamation so regal as the Lord’s, spoken of Himself in Revelation 1:8 –

I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the Ending, says the Lord,
the One who is, and who was, and who is coming, the Almighty.
Revelation 1:8 LITV

If ever there was a time that believers need to remember Who is from Beginning to End – and will prove it so in the face of unbelief when He returns – that time is now.

Living in these present days, it is evident there are alpha personalities exerting their influence in every genre of life. They are becoming stronger, bolder and louder. They know how to make their presence known by pointing to the past, finding it lacking and calling for a united beginning of something ‘never before known.’

Uh, first of all…there is nothing new under the sun.

That which has been is that which will be,
And that which has been done is that which will be done.
So there is nothing new under the sun.
Ecclesiastes 1:9

Solomon, the writer of Ecclesiastes, goes on to say that it is ‘nothing new’ because from generation to generation we do not remember the former things. I like to put it this way:

We’re so far behind we think we’re first.

When it comes to human nature, there certainly is nothing new under the sun. Recorded history proves it.

So, how are we to conduct ourselves when called to be an omega in an alpha world?

As for you, keep in your hearts what you have heard from the beginning.
If what you heard from the first dwells and remains in you,
then you will dwell in the Son and in the Father [always].

And now, little children, abide (live, remain permanently) in Him,
so that when He is made visible,
we may have and enjoy perfect confidence (boldness, assurance)
and not be ashamed and shrink from Him at His coming.
I John 2:24,28 Amplified

A key part of spiritual development and growing your life is not departing from the truth you heard in the beginning when you first came to Christ.

This ‘omega’ heart lives in hope and anticipation of the day when He is made visible. When every eye sees Him. When every knee, alphas included, bows to the one and only Alpha and Omega. When all that is wrong is set right.

If it were not so, He would have told us. For He tells only the truth because He is the Truth, the Way, the Life.1

If the alphas are barking loudly, remind yourself that your Lion roars.

Whose voice are you listening to these days?

I pray the Lord’s, our Alpha and Omega. For every beginning over and over, He holds, indeed He is, the Ending.

Do not let go of that which you know to be true. Our Deliverer is coming…

    Hi Nancy,

Thanks for a scroll of truth.
Thanks for the Lilies retreat. I’ve told more people, “I don’t have to set myself on fire to keep you warm.” (Not me personally, but referring to their lives.)
    They grabbed onto that.
I met some interesting ladies and will meet with them tomorrow. New people make new friends and enhance our lives. Thank you.

I’m fascinated with God’s design of our lives. Each one unique and prepackaged with potential. Each person created with distinctive redemptive gifts our Father intended to be expressed. He has given good gifts to all. That’s why I am dedicated to sharing, teaching, and delighting in the growth and spiritual development of who we are designed to be ~ spirit, soul, and body.
