The Big ‘But’ …

The Big ButI miss my friend Kay.

Especially when I see a big ‘but’ coming from a mile away.

The Big ‘But’ – It was her favorite phrase. She interjected it often when talking about something that mattered. To her way of thinking, the big ‘but’ was a needless disruption in the flow of living life forward. When it got in the way, she said something.

Kay was fervent about leading with her life. I think that’s part of why we became such fast friends. Blessed with the mind of an idea generator, that woman could flip ideas faster than a pancake turner! Being in her presence either got your creative juices going or threatened to wear you out. Either way, you usually left happy.

But…

Even Kay had to admit (which she did) that her worst habit was starting things that she never completed. Well, almost never.

Kay was my first Listen To My Life mapping client when I had just begun my life coaching practice. The eight maps turned out to be the perfect fuel that kept her ignited and excited about listening to her life. As she inclined her ear and her heart to listen well, she ran into the big ‘but’ time and again.

But…

She also ran straight into the arms of God.

Through processing the story of her life, He became nearer and dearer to her until one day, six months after completing the final map, she kept on walking right into His presence. To this day, I have no doubt Kay finished well. That her victory in overcoming the big ‘but’ came through completing the processing of her life story, makes me smile.

My friend Donna and I counted it joy to walk with her as she lived out the Listen To My Life byline:

Using visual maps, Listen to My Life is a journey that helps you invite God into the process of
reviewing your past, assessing your present and continuing walking with God into your future.

I miss my friend, Kay.

But…

While Kay continued walking into her eternal future, I have the privilege of being here to walk with others, like you.

If you lean in closely, I’m sure you will hear Kay cheering you on from Heaven’s grandstands –

Don’t let The Big ‘But’ stop you!

I’d love to introduce you to the wonderful tool of life mapping known as Listen To My Life. Endorsed by Kay.

    Hi Nancy,
What fond memories I have of Kay and our times together. Her humor, humility and insight added to our informal conversations and learning.
I lost track of time. Thank you for remembering this wonderful woman.

Thank you, Donna. Hard to believe it’s been two years since Kay ‘graduated’. We were the first mapping trio. A special time I hold in my heart with you two wonderful women!

Kay would have a new big but – from a heavenly perspective.

Hello! I’m Nancy Bentz

Nancy Bentz

I’m fascinated with God’s design of our lives. Each one unique and prepackaged with potential. Each person created with distinctive redemptive gifts our Father intended to be expressed. He has given good gifts to all. That’s why I am dedicated to sharing, teaching, and delighting in the growth and spiritual development of who we are designed to be ~ spirit, soul, and body.
