Dare To Be Wise

wisdom - row of ancient columns

Dare to be wise. Four brief words that, in and of themselves, convey wisdom for the season we find ourselves in, no matter where we are around the globe.

In the United States, our nation annually celebrates Independence Day, also known as the 4th of July holiday. Iconic Lady Liberty – the statue given to the U.S. as a gift from France – has been a treasured part of the mural of our country. She has long stood on Liberty Island in New York Harbor as an agent of welcome to many who have come to our land through those harbor waters.

All that Lady Liberty represents, however, is far more ancient than her relatively recent construction that began in September 1875. Far down the hallowed halls of Time another ‘Lady’ was established first.  Lady Wisdom. Before the beginning of all to be created, she was birthed.

Wisdom’s Seven Pillars

As I delved into study of the redemptive gifts and the pattern of seven that flows throughout scripture from Genesis to Revelation, Lady Wisdom did for me exactly what she promises she will do: she appeared at the forefront of my understanding and began to speak as one having a voice.

For many years I have loved Proverbs 8, the Wisdom chapter. The Word of God being alive and active, I returned to Proverbs 8 early in my study. As I read, I gained more comprehension of her seven pillars of wisdom noted in Proverbs 9:1. She is the support system of all of Creation, including the seven portions of our human spirit –

Prophet │ Servant │Teacher │Exhorter │Giver │Ruler │Mercy
(from Romans 12:6-8)

Wisdom’s call to become wise

One of the several articles uploaded to the new website before re-launch was Lady Wisdom – The Voice of Understanding. Because Wisdom is the foundation on which all the rest is patterned for redemptive living, it is time to re-introduce her into our grid of how we think, perceive, and understand.

As we pay attention to Wisdom’s teachings and her admonition to dare to be wise, Holy Spirit enables us to draw from her pool as we consider our thoughts, choices, and actions. This too is part of what embracing your design for redemptive living means. Lady Wisdom is full of practical life application! We often pray for wisdom, which God promises to liberally give to all who ask. However, it must be implemented if we would dare to be wise and grow strong in spirit.

The article contains the full of Proverbs 8. Shared in The Voice translation, it is a powerful description. In effect, it is Wisdom’s autobiography and declaration of identity. She beckons to all, eager and willing to share her Voice of Understanding. Before you close, please click the link. Soak your spirit in Wisdom.
